The FCRA registration of Missionaries of Charity was restored on January 7, the MHA has confirmed. On December 25 last year, the MHA refused to renew the FCRA licence of Mother Teresa NGO's due to some "adverse inputs".

After MHA rejected Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity request for licence renewal, the NGO had joined those 5,789 entities who lost their registration under FCRA on ground of their failure in submitting a renewal application to enjoy the facility despite reminders from government.

With the central government’s latest action, the Mother Teresa-founded charity is back on the list of over 16,000 NGOs whose FCRA registration is currently active.

The FCRA registration is mandatory for any association and NGO to receive and use foreign funding. All over India, the MoC has over 240 houses for orphans, the destitute and AIDS patients. Last year, it completed 71 years of work in India.
