Another day and another decision by the supreme court are in the limelight and men of this country are highly disappointed. Today Supreme Court said that even if a man loses his job, he will have to pay the maintenance for his wife and kids. Men must earn even by physical labor to provide financial support for their wife and kids. Men are legally obligated to maintain finance,s if physically able. And Indian men are highly disappointed by this decision and ask where are these feminists now, who said “We don’t need men in our lives.”

A bench of justices Dinesh Maheshwari and Bela M Trivedi made the observations while directing an "errant" husband, who had questioned the chastity of his estranged wife and had sought a DNA test of their son, to pay maintenance of ₹ 10,000 per month to her, over and above the maintenance allowance of ₹ 6,000 granted by the family court for the child.

Citing an apex court judgment, the bench said it has been held that the object of maintenance proceedings is not to punish a person for his past neglect, but to prevent vagrancy and destitution of a deserted wife, by providing her food, clothing, and shelter by a speedy remedy.

The bench also disapproved the Punjab and Haryana high court passing order in a very casual manner by upholding “such an erroneous and perverse order of the family court”. The court passed the order in favor of the wife who approached the apex court and was fighting a legal battle for maintenance for around a decade after she left her matrimonial home in 2010.

On the internet, this decision is getting trolled by men, A person asked “What if the wife is earning more than the husband, does she have any responsibility to save the husband's life?” Another man said, “Is this a joke? Where is the equality?” Another man said,” Is it okay if, women are obligated to wash dishes and stay in the house It will be declared misogynist.”

Men are really not happy with this decision as there are many cases happening in our society where women demanded a divorce, put allegations and charges on the husband, and ask for alimony. And because the rules are in women’s favor, men have no choice but to pay them the alimony and get free from this vicious circle. Not one or two but 1000s of cases have been recorded like this. Where men are helpless.

We usually talk about women's rights and the torture that women had to go through post-marriage sometimes, but we never talk about such mental abuse that many times men also have to go through, and such decisions can work like oil in the fire.

Some women have also reacted on the same issue, one said, “ This is a stupid judgment given. It’s not a “duty” of a man to provide. It’s a choice of theirs as an individual. Women need not be “protected”. They need to be “enabled” and there is a big difference between the two words. We need better judges and lawyers in Court. The Indian judicial system has stooped low in all forms and cases. Feminism is equality. As a citizen, we expect all individuals to be given an equal and fair opportunity in everything. And this doesn’t happen by forcing one sect for anything against their will. There should be better opportunities to come up which ensures everyone becomes self-dependent.
