ADGP Alok Kumar said in a press conference that Abdul Matheen, an absconding accused is also probably the main handler and NIA has a Rs 5 lakh bounty on Abdul Matheen.

It was also learnt that the cooker recovered from the crime scene was fitted with detonator, wires and batteries that were used to trigger the blast. Police said that a major tragedy was averted and situations could have been more worse.
Police suspect that Shariq had links with those who had carried out a car blast in Coimbatore in October.Police are conducting raids at various locations across Karnataka and during the raids, they have seized IEDs and other explosives.

In an eerie similarity, the explosion in the Coimbatore case occurred when a gas cylinder blew up inside the car in which the accused was travelling. However, while Shariq survived the auto blast, the accused in the Coimbatore case, Mubeen, was not so lucky.
