Mumbai police arrest Salman Quraishi under POCSO act for chasing & molesting minor girls

Mumbai, December 01: A man named Salman Quraishi has been arrested by Mumbai police for chasing two minor girls and molesting them while they were returning home from tuition classes in suburban Andheri. Police have booked him under the Protection of Child from Sexual Offence act 2012 of the Indian penal code.

 

 

Mumbai police have also seized his friend’s Mercedes car from which they were chasing two minor girls. Quraishi reportedly hails from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh and had come to Mumbai to meet his friend, who lives in suburban Jogeshwari.

 

The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon when the minor girls were returning home after attending a tuition class. As per the FIR, when the minors were returning from the tuition, Salman and his friend started chasing and passing comments on them.

 

 

 

Following this, the girls panicked and hired an autorickshaw to reach home. However, they chased them in the car and stopped the rickshaw in the middle of the road and put a currency note on the bag of the victim sitting in the rickshaw. A phone number was written on the note.

 

After reaching home, the girls told their parents about the incident, who then filed a case. Police traced Quraishi based on his mobile phone number and nabbed him on Sunday night while his friend is on the run. The hunt is underway to nab the other accused. A case was registered against theaccused under section 354 (m)(1) of the IPC and POCSO Act.
