Till 2005, Padmini was content with traveling all over the country with her husband, Lt Col Pratap Jog, an officer in the Indian Army. Initially, she was a homemaker taking care of her two children. Later, she pursued a Montessori course and began teaching in schools in places where her husband was posted.

Padmini was born and raised in Bengaluru and completed her senior Cambridge at London University, and has a BSc in Home Science from Maharani College. She was busy all her life first taking care of her 2 children and then teaching other kids. Yog came into her life much later, when her husband got retired and they got settled in their hometown Nagpur.

Initially, Padmini saw her Father - in - Law practicing Yog every single day. And while watching him, her husband would also do the same. However, at that point, she was busy taking care of her family. Years later in 1983 when her husband had his retirement they went to Nagpur and attended a “Yog Abhyasi Camp” they passed the exams with flying colors and then started teaching others.

Unaware of the fact at that time, they will end up teaching Yog to thousands of people from all over the country, including Jawans in the Armed forces. It became their mission to impart Yog in other people’s especially Youth’s life.

Not just one Abhyasi Yog Camp, Padmini, and her husband attended various yog shivir’s including Baba Ramdev’s teachers camp in Haridwar where they received direct training from Baba Ramdev. While returning from that camp they received the call for taking a camp in Sehore MP.

The couple conducted these camps free of cost – only asking for travel tickets and accommodation. They started traveling all over India conducting camps from Monday to Friday every week, for civilians, schools, colleges, old age homes, the Rotary, and senior citizens. Their main camps were also at Army, Navy, and Air Force bases and at police centers (CRPF, SRPF, BSF, and ITBP). These included everyone at the bases and also schools in the vicinity like Kendriya Vidyalayas and Army Public Schools. The couple conducted 561 camps before Lt Col Jog passed away following a sudden heart attack.

Till then, her husband had been looking after the administration, but Padmini soon learned to not only teach alone but also travel and stay alone. To date, she has completed around 940 camps and in September this year, traveled to the border areas in Jammu & Kashmir to teach jawans.

“From September 17-28, I traveled to 11 locations in the border areas of Jammu & Kashmir, teaching yoga and pranayama for two hours by day and sleeping in a different place each night. Each time, we were traveling higher up, and the highest was 12,300 ft above sea level,” Padmini shares with a leading news portal.

For physical and mental well-being this camp is very important for Jawans. The course comprises seven pranayamas, seven micro exercises, and seven yoga asanas, including yoga Nidra and meditation for peaceful sleep.

“Jawans live in a stressful world and said practicing these every day brought them calm. I also give audio files whenever requested, so that they use it every day.” She explains why it’s important to incorporate pranayama and yoga into our daily routine. “We sleep, bathe, and eat every day. All we need is half an hour of pranayama and 10 minutes of yogasanas for physical and mental well-being. (Source - Your Story)

This is an incredible and inspiring story that says age is just a number. When you decide to do something, all you need is a fresh perspective, dedication, and will to achieve something. Here Padmini was not doing anything for her own good. She was doing this for our Nation, for our own Jawans, which is incredible.
