US slams China's LAC intrusion attempt, says we fully support India's ongoing efforts to de-escalate situation

Washington DC, December 14: Reacting to the recent Tawang clash that took place between China and India, a US State Department spokesperson said that the US strongly opposes any attempts to advance territorial claims across the border at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and they are closely watching the developments.

While answering the question related to clash, Ned Price, a US State Department spokesperson said “India is an important strategic partner of the United States be it bilaterally, in Quad as well as other multilateral fora. We do strongly oppose any attempts to advance territorial claims by incursions, military or civilian across the border at the established LAC.”
 
The US State Department spokesperson also urged both India and China to resolve border disputes through existing bilateral channels.
 
 
 
Besides, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre also reacted cautiously to the recent face-off and said the US closely monitors the situation and encourages India and China to utilise the existing channels to discuss the disputed boundaries.
 
“We are glad to hear that both sides appeared to have quickly disengaged from the clashes. We are closely monitoring the situation. We encourage India and China to utilise existing bilateral channels to discuss disputed boundaries,” the statement said.“…. we are glad to see that there has been some disengagement in the clashes at this time,” Karine Jean-Pierre said.
 
 
Notably, on December 9, the Indian and Chinese troops clashed at the border area of the Tawang sector in Arunachal Pradesh wherein the Indian troops gave a befitting response to the Chinese troops.
