New Delhi, Dec 26: TV actor Sheezan Khan, 28, was arrested Sunday for abetment of suicide, after his co-star and alleged former girlfriend Tunisha Sharma died by suicide on Saturday on the set of a show in Vasai. This came after an FIR was registered against Khan on the basis of a complaint by Vanita Sharma, Tunisha’s mother. As of now, a court in Vasai, has sent actor Sheezan Khan to police custody for four days after being produced by Waliv police.

According to Waliv Police, they received information that after the tea break, the actress went to the toilet and when she did not come back, the police broke the door open and found that she had hanged herself. Besides, no suicide note was recovered at the spot by police.
Police and her family have said the reason behind Tunisha's alleged extreme step that ended her life could be her breakup with Sheezan over a fortnight back.
As per FIR, it was revealed that the two actors were in a relationship and had broken up 15 days ago. Tunisha Sharma was reportedly under stress, and it is suspected that's what drove her to the edge, said the Mumbai police.
Parth Zutshi, another of Tunisha's co-stars, was also called by the police on Sunday for questioning regarding the alleged suicide. "I was called for questioning by police and was asked general questions. I can't comment on her relations, I don't have any idea, it was her internal matter," he told the media. Parth also stated that though Tunisha had been stressed, she did not take any kind of drugs.

Speaking of Sheezan Khan, he has acted in shows like Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul, in which he was the lead along with Tunisha. He is best known for the role of young Akbar in the television show Jodha Akbar. He has also appeared in several Hindi language TV shows like Silsila Pyaar Ka, Ek Thi Rani Ek Tha Raavan, Nazar 2 and Pavitra: Bharose Ka Safar. The actor has two elder sisters– Falaq and Shafaq Naaz, who are also television actors.

Maharashtra Minister and BJP leader Girish Mahajan on Sunday claimed that the death of actor Tunisha Sharma is a matter of "love jihad" and the state police are investigating the case. Speaking to ANI, Mahajan said, "It is a matter of 'love jihad' and police are investigating the case. We are seeing that such cases are increasing day by day and we are mulling bringing a strict law against it".
However, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Chandrakant Jadhav has clarified of no other angle of love jihad or blackmailing so far. Apart from this, the Mumbai Police on Sunday said that the post-mortem reports of the deceased Tunisha Sharma have specified 'hanging' as the cause of death.
