San Francisco, December 03: In a major development, Twitter's new CEO Elon musk who leaves no stone unturned to expose the previous twitter administration, has now once again shared a long tweeter thread ravelled that how the platform censored a controversial article on Hunter Biden - an article published in the New York's post in 2020.
Sharing the journalist and author Matt Taibbi's tweet, Musk, “Here, we go!!".
In a Twitter thread, Matt has explained how the former Legal Head of the company, Vijaya Gadde, received directives from the Biden administration to censor tweets during the 2020 election - shortly after they cracked down on the story on Hunter Biden, son of US President Joe Biden.
As per Matt, the social media giant “took extraordinary steps to suppress” New York Post’s story, removing links and posting warnings that it may be “unsafe.” They even blocked its transmission via direct message, a tool hitherto reserved for extreme cases, e.g child pornography,” Taibbi said in the tweet thread.
It should be noted that on October 14, 2020, the New York Post published BIDEN SECRET EMAILS, an expose based on the contents of Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop. New York Post revealed that Hunter Biden introduced his father Joe Biden, then the US Vice President, to a top executive at a Ukrainian energy firm less than a year before the elder Biden had put pressure on government officials in Ukraine into firing a prosecutor who was investigating the company.

The suppression and censorship of the story attracted a lot of criticism from the White House Office that was occupied by Donald Trump. As per the reports, on the orders of the Legal Head of the company, Vijaya Gadde, Twitter has also even locked the account of former White House spokeswoman, Kaleigh McEnany.
Twitter Public policy executive Caroline Strom showed some signs of concern regarding the censorship of the post and the details around it. Taibbi tweeted, “Caroline Strom to send out a polite WTF query. Several employees noted that there was tension between the comms/policy teams, who had little/less control over moderation, and the safety/trust teams.
He also shared how the censorship was justified under the guise of the ‘hacked materials policy. “Per checking, the user was bounced by Site Integrity for violating our Hacked Materials policy. Adding them here for further insights and guidance,” a Twitter executive had justified.
“They just freelanced it. Hacking was the excuse, but within a few hours, pretty much everyone realized that wasn’t going to hold. But no one had the guts to reverse it,” a Twitter employee described the decision-making process.
As per the Taibbi Indian-origin Democratic Congressman, US Rep. Ro Khanna was the only Democrat who expressed concerns about the ramifications of Twitter's decision.
