Hijab row: Muslim students now offer Namaz inside govt school premises, video goes viral

Kadaba, Feb 12: Amid the ongoing hijab row going on in Karnataka, an incident where a few Muslim students studying in classes V and VII offered Namaz inside the classroom at the Government Higher Primary School of Kadapa in Mangalore. has come to the fore. The incident took place at the Government Higher Primary School at Ankathadka in Kadaba taluk on February 4.

The incident of offering namaz had not come to the notice of the teachers on Friday last week. Soon after learning of the incident, teachers directed students not to engage in religious activities inside classrooms.
 
According to sources, parents of a few children had sought permission from the school, to allow students to visit mosques to offer prayers on Fridays. However, no permission was given to offer namaz inside the school, school authorities said.
 
 
 
The video of the boys offering Namaz went viral on social media. Following this, a row of controversy erupted in the Kadaba taluk. After that, officials from the education department visited the school on Friday.
 
As per the reports, a similar incident has been reported in a government school of Ilkul where some Muslim girls offered Namaz in the classrooms. Following that, the Ilkul school principal had directed the students that they can’t offer Namaz in the classrooms or the school, yet the girls offered Namaz in the corridor area when theteachers were busy having their lunch. The locals have questioned the school management over the incident.
