IT dept raids Shiv Sena corporator Yashwant Jadhav's Mumbai premises

Jadhav is chairman of BMC’s Standing Committee that has final authority to approve all big financial proposals of the civic body.

Mumbai, February 25: The income tax (I-T investigation) department is searching the premises of influential Shiv Sena corporator Yashwant Jadhav and his MLA wife Yamini Jadhav, at the Byculla area of South Mumbai. Jadhav is chairman of BMC’s powerful Standing Committee that has final authority to approve all big financial proposals of the civic body.

According to reports, the Enforcement Directorate arrived at Jadhav's residence this morning. The I-T is also searching the premises of a few BMC contractors. Shiv Sena is ruling the BMC civic body for over two decades and the next election is to take place in a couple of months. Last year, the I-T conducted a probe into the election affidavit of Shiv Sena's Byculla MLA Yamini Jadhav and called it "erroneous".
 
 
Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday night, arrested former group operating officer (GOO) of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) Anand Subramanian in its probe of a 2018 case of manipulation of the bourse. Subramanian will be produced in competent court today, a CBI official said.
 
 
On Thursday, Mumbai Police prohibited the gathering of more than 5 persons for participation in rallies, demonstrations & protest marches till March 8. According to reports, the protests and counter-protests over NCP leader Nawab Malik’s arrest by the ED prompted the issuance of this order.
