Indian Embassy in Hungary has released the advisory regarding the evacuation process. It has asked Indian nationals, especially students living closest to the Russian border to depart first in an organised manner from the country.

New Delhi, Feb 25: In a major development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led-government is going to start evacuation progress of the Indian students stuck in the war-torn country Ukraine, through Kyiv’s land borders with Hungary and Romania. It should be noted that Ukraine's airspace closed amid the Russian invasion.

Indian Embassy in Hungary has released the advisory regarding the evacuation process. It has asked Indian nationals, especially students living closest to the Russian border to depart first in an organised manner from the country.
 
As per the notice, the Embassy of India and the Indian govt are working to establish evacuation roots from Romania and Hungary. It also further informed that MEA has sent the team to the Checkpoint including, the CHOP-ZAHONY Hungarian border near Uzhhorod, PORUBNE-SIRET Romanian Border near Chernivtsi.
 
"Indian nationals, especially students living closest to the border checkpoints are being advised to depart first in an organised manner, in coordination with the team from the Ministry of External Affair to actualize this option," it said in the statement.
 
 
"Once above routes are operational, Indian nationals traveling by their arrangements for transport would be advised to proceed to the border checkpoints, and remain in touch with the helpline numbers set up at respective checkpoints for facilitation through the border," the statement said.
 
The embassy has advised people to carry a passport, vaccination certificate, and cash, preferably US dollars. Besides, they have been asked to carry a Covid-19 double vaccination certificate, if available. The embassy has also asked Indian nationals and students to take printouts of the Indian flag and paste them prominently on vehicles and buses while traveling.
  
Earlier on Thursday, the ministry expanded its control room in Delhi and has made it operational on a 24x7 basis in view of the escalations in the war-ridden region.
 
As per the MEA, around 20,000 Indians in Ukraine, and of them, nearly 4,000 have returned to India in the last few days. It just comes after, Modi held a telephonic conversation with Russian counterpart Putin and conveyed that the topmost priority of the government is the safety and security of Indian nationals, including Indian students, and their evacuation from Ukraine.
 
The Indian embassy in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, is operational. The embassy has urged Indians to find shelter or if possible then leave the country by land.
