Shiv Sena MP praises EAM Jaishankar’s ‘less than Europe’ comeback on India’s Russian oil imports

New Delhi, April 12: Terming the External Affairs Minister S jaishankar as 'superb MEA', Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi who is a known critic of the Centre, has unexpectedly showered praising over jaishankar for giving a befitting reply to the US over the Russia Oil import issue.
During the press conference of the India-US 2+2 ministerial dialogue, Jaishankar took a veiled dig at US secretary of state Antony Blinken over his remark that India should consider not purchasing additional oil from Russia.
The foreign minister quipped that instead of pointing the finger at India, the US should take a closer look at its allies in Europe, who are a far bigger consumer of Russian energy.
“If you're looking at (India's) energy purchases from Russia, I'd suggest your attention should be on Europe. We buy some energy necessary for our energy security. But I suspect, looking at figures, our purchases for the month would be less than what Europe does in an afternoon," he underlined.

“We’re against the conflict, we’re up for a dialogue and diplomacy, we’re for urgent cessation of violence and we are prepared to contribute in whatever way we can," Jaishankar further said.
