Indian Cinema has always had an impact on society. Every generation relates to this cinema, and it has a huge impact on the especially younger generation. And finally, Indian Cinema is changing where no more “Religion Pleasing” content will be thrown at your face in the name of secularism. And that is the beauty of this changing medium. For the past 4-5 years Indian Cinema is changing and that too for the better.
Recently one small budget movie broke all the records. It was the most talked-about movie which showed the mirror to the world, especially to our secular India. Yes, I am talking about “The Kashmir Files”. To date, it has crossed 300Cr. Box office records worldwide. First released on just 600 scenes now breaking all the records there as well, leading in its 4th week with 4000 screens. This movie was a brutal truth, which nobody talked about before. No director had the guts to show the truth, the actual brutality of what had happened there.

Post that another movie came, which slapped the entire narrative of “De di hame Azadi Bina Khadg Bina dhal” with a spectacular presentation of a fictional story yet with a powerful message. I am talking about RRR. Where you actually get to see the “Kodand Dhari Ram” on the huge big screen and people listen to the people chanting “Jai Shree Ram” behind you. S.S. Rajamouli has the power to show reality on the screen with a fictional touch to it. This movie was dedicated to all the Freedom Fighters of our nation who fought for our independence. Right From Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaja, Kitoorrani Chennama to Rani Lakshmi bai, Bhagat Singh to Chandrashekhar Azad, literally everyone. This movie powerfully talked about the struggle that we faced to earn our independence and we did not get it just like that based on “Ahinsa and Vishwa Shanti”.
Not just these two movies but in the last 4-5 years movies like Accidental Prime Minister, Tashkent Files, Uri the surgical strike, The Gazi attack, Gumnami, Indu Sarkar, Baadshaho, and many more talked about Emergency, Wrong political acts, Islamic Terrorism and questioned the deaths of our leader like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Pandit Lal Bahadur Shastri. These movies have changed the entire narrative of Bollywood.
Now no more Rahim Chacha will come and do the sacrifice of his Ahmad and will become a messiah for the society, now no more Bajrangi will come and get along with Chand Nawab to rescue a Pakistani girl (Just to show the bhaichara between two nations.) No more religion leasing activities will be shown in the movies just in the name of secularism. No more religion-specific victims and villans will be shown deliberately to please a particular part of society.
Now Bollywood does not belong to the three Khans. It belongs to the truth. The true presentation of culture and Indianness, True incidents that had happened and created history, true colors of the political parties with an agenda.
The scenario is changing and we can call it the betterment of the Art and Cinema world, which can help our next generation knows that culture, art, and cinema are not the medium of pleasing a particular part of society, but to show the reality and actual meaning of culture.
