New Delhi, Apr 15: Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu visited the historic city of Ayodhya today with wife Usha Naidu. He performed puja at the Ram Janmabhoomi Sthal and the famous Hanuman Garhi temple, ahead of Hanuman Jayanti.
Vice President Naidu arrived in the city by a special train in the morning. Soon after, Venkaiah Naidu and his wife visited Ram Janmabhoomi Sthal, where the members of Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Trust made a detailed presentation through a short film showcasing the 3-D model of the upcoming Ram temple to the Vice President. Subsequently, Vice President Naidu performed puja at the Garbha Griha site of the under construction Ram Temple, and also offered prayers to the Ram Lalla.
Naidu also offered prayers at the famous Hanuman Garhi temple in the city. It is believed that Lord Hanuman guarded the city of Ayodhya from this place after Rama's return from Lanka. The Vice President later proceeded to the holy Sarayu river and offered prayers to the ancient river which is also closely associated with Lord Rama's life.
In the evening, Vice President Naidu is scheduled to take part in Ganga Aarti in Varanasi. On his return from Ayodhya, the Vice President wrote a facebook post sharing his deep emotional and spiritual experience at Ram Nagari. He writes, "...As I returned from the ‘City of Shri Rama’, I was filled with a welter of emotions and reflections on the richness of Indian history. It reinforced my belief that the timeless message of the ancient epics needs to spread to serve as a source of guidance and inspiration for everyone. Let us understand and spread the universal message of Ramayana, and enrich our lives based on its rich foundational values."
