PM Modi also asked the newly elected Pakistan PM to build "normal neighborly relations" between the two countries which will be for "the benefit of the region". The letter was sent last week after PM Sharif took charge as the new Pakistani prime minister after Imran Khan lost a vote of confidence in the National Assembly.

The letter was sent on April 12 in which PM Modi called for "constructive engagement" and stated that "India remains committed to advancing peace, security, and prosperity in the region". PM Modi, further said, that he looks forward to building normal neighborly relations between our countries for the benefit of the region.

Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif had reciprocated and written back to PM Modi on Saturday (April 16). He has sought "meaningful engagement" and the peaceful resolution of outstanding disputes, including the "core issue of Jammu & Kashmir".
