Kishtwar, April 19: Bringing smiles to the faces of Kishtwar citizens, the Indian Army has come forward to reduce the hardships of people of far-flung areas. It has constructed an iron footbridge, naming it “INSANIYAT BRIDGE” at Zalla village in the Chhatroo area of Kishtwar district.
Army has dedicated this bridge to the people of the remote area. This iron footbridge has reduced the distance from the remote villages to Chhatroo town by 7 kilometers. People, there are highly appreciating the efforts of the Indian Army in mitigating their hardships.
Earlier, there was a wooden log bridge but recently a boy from Zalla village fell down from the wooden log bridge. This resulted in the demand for a permanent bridge by the locals.
They approached the Indian Army for help and after assessing the requirement, the local Rashtriya Rifles unit constructed a 45 feet long and 3 feet wide iron footbridge for the people. The bridge is strong enough to sustain a load of 5-6 persons and can also be used for the movement of cattle.
This initiative of the Army has further strengthened the bond with the people. The foot bridge was inaugurated by Brigadier Pranab Misra, Commander 9 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, in presence of SDM Chatroo Inderjeet Singh Parihar, BDO Chatroo Tasleem Wani, and the other dignitaries and people of the area.
