ED submits charge sheet against Nawab Malik, as SC rejects his bail plea

The charge sheet has 5000 pages & includes a statement of witnesses; ED also decided to file a charge sheet against Faraz Malik and Aamir Malik, sons of Nawab Malik, after they failed to appear before ED for questioning in connection with the case.

Mumbai, April 22: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) submitted a charge sheet against NCP leader and Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik in Special PMLA court, in connection with the Dawood Ibrahim money laundering case. The charge sheet has 5000 pages & includes a statement of witnesses & other documentary evidence.

According to reports, ED also decided to file a charge sheet against Faraz Malik and Aamir Malik, sons of Nawab Malik, after they failed to appear before ED for questioning in connection with the case.
 
 
The ED had sent 3 summons to Faraz Malik and 2 to Aamir Malik, but they both failed to appear before ED. The ED had arrested Malik in the case of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act related to elements linked to Dawood Ibrahim and the underworld. There were reports saying that Malik was involved in the Hawala transfers operated by Dawood Ibrahim.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Friday, rejected Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik's plea seeking interim release in the money laundering case. The court said it will not interfere at this stage and directed Malik to go before the trial court and file for regular bail.
 
 
Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, Appearing for Malik, said how can he be arrested in 2022 when the episodes related to 1999? To this, Justice Chandrachud said, "We will not interfere at this stage. You can apply for bail in the PMLA court. We will not interfere at this nascent stage. You go before the trial court and apply for regular bail."

Nawab Malik is facing money laundering probe by the ED for his property dealings with Haseena Parkar, sister of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
