Another AIMIM leader arrested in connection with Hubli stone-pelting

The stone-pelting incident took place at Old Hubli Police Station on April 16 in which several policemen, including one inspector, were injured. The mob which gathered outside the police station suddenly turned violent and started pelting stones at the police station and police vehicles.

Bengaluru, April 25: Karnataka Police arrested the fourth person affiliated with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) in connection with the stone-pelting incident that broke out in Hubli earlier this month.

Police have arrested All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader and Hubli unit president Dadapeer Betgeri in this case. This just came days after, the police had arrested AIMIM corporator Nazir Ahmed Honyal and before him, another party leader Irfan Nalvatwad was arrested.
 
According to the private media house, party chief Asaduddin Owaisi confirmed the arrest of his leaders but stressed that they are innocent."Yes our party leaders have been arrested and in our view they are innocent and I have said this in a press conference two days ago. Not only AIMIM but Congress leaders have also been arrested," he said.
 
A total of 146 persons have been arrested by the Karnataka Police so far in this case.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has assured action against the perpetrators of the incident.
 
"Police will not hesitate to take stringent action against those who take the law into their hands. We will act against those who instigated it too. Let us not give political colors to it," Bommai said.
