Are You A Magnet ?It Matters.

It so happened that I landed up there and was supposed to stay for one day only. Sitting for my dinner in a quiet corner, I was just glancing through the hall, if I could find out some one known to me but it did not happen. Surprisingly, all the tables got occupied. One seat was vacant on my table of two.

Life

I had a chance to go to an Army club which generally caters for officers of different branches, Arms and services, coming from all over India. Some of locally posted officers come regularly to this place but most of others frequent this place once in a blue moon since they come from all over India, stay for a day or two and then go back. Waiters are civilians who are employed there.

 Life

I placed my order and waited for my dinner. It was getting unusually late and I was getting irritated. I tried to look for the waiter but he was not to be seen. No doubt all the tables were occupied and it must be quite difficult for limited number of waiters to look after so many guests at one time, so I consoled myself and continued to wait.

As it happened, a very senior officer (in looks) landed up on my table and probably people around knew him. I thought he must be some famous personality or must be a General.

Suddenly, I found waiters lining up on my table and started asking for orders from him. I was surprised. He did not even call them. He called each one of them by name and hugged them in front of all the officers.

I was quite surprised; this old man did not shake hand with any officer, not even with me but had the courtesy to hug the two waiters. He was asking about their kids, their education, family, health etc as if he was a family friend.

All the waiters were asking about his family as well. Some were suggesting him to settle down in this station only.

I found out the time to introduce myself and then asked him how he knew these two waiters.

“I was posted there around six months back and retired from this station only. I was Col Adm in Station HQ. I knew each of them and their families by name. After retirement, this is first time I am coming to this station. I am settled in Vizag. My wife generally calls their ladies to update on regular basis.

Now, I realised why each one of waiter was lining up on my table after his arrival as if he is a magnet. He has such a deep connection with each one of them which has no expiry date and does not require any official position.

You do not require any position or authority to attract the people. If you connect well, you attract people automatically. Your authentically is the only requirement.
