New Delhi, April 6: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar had a 20-minute meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the PM's Office in Parliament on Wednesday. In it, Sharad Pawar brought up the issue of ED's action against Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut.
The meeting came a day after the ED attached assets worth more than Rs 11.15 crore of Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut's wife, and one of his associates in a money-laundering investigation linked to certain land deals. The properties attached include Raut's Alibaug plot and one flat in Dadar, Mumbai.
While speaking to media, Sharad Pawar said, “I spoke to the Prime Minister about the case related to Rajya Sabha (RS) member Sanjay Raut. I told him that the way Raut’s properties have been attached is injustice."
Sharad Pawar said, “I told the PM that Sanjay Raut is not just a RS member, but also a journalist.” He added, “Just because he [Raut] makes statements and criticisms, it does not mean action needs to be taken against him. What was the need?
Notably, CBI took custody of former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh from the Arthur Road Prison in Central Mumbai and placed under arrest in connection with corruption allegations raised against him by former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh.
