Shah's attack came in response to CPI Rajya Sabha MP Binoy Vishwam's allegation that BJP-led central government, misuses the sedition law.

During the Rajya Sabha proceedings, Binoi, while talking about the Criminal Procedure (Identification) bill, he termed the new bill which was passed in Rajya sabha as 'colonial' and 'draconian'. Opposing the bill he criticised the central government and flagged the misuse of the seduction law. He alleged that the central government misuses the sedition law.

Trashing all the allegations, Shah said that at least CPI MP's from Kerala should not lecture us on sedition, citing the Kerala political killings. Shah, while hitting back at Viswam accused the Left of killing BJP workers in Kerala.

Shah said, 100 workers of his party were killed under CPI led government over various political reasons.
