Chennai, May 12: At a time when the issue of forced conversion has triggered a controversy in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, a new case of Love Jihad has come to the fore in Tamil Nadu's Tirupur city. In the latest case, a 23-year-old Muslim boy, Imam Hameef, forced a girl to convert to Islam and marry him as per the Islamic tradition.
The victim threw light on the incident and filed a police complaint against her 23-year-old Muslim boy.
In her report, she revealed that Hameef had met her through the Instagram app, and soon they developed a friendship bond. After a few weeks, he promised her a job in Tirupur. He also arranged a house for her. Subsequently, they both started living together.
However, soon after Hameef started coercing and forcing her to convert to Islam. He also forced her to change her name and marry him, as per the Islamic tradition. Hameef also started abusing her physically and verbally. He also made a casteist slur and threatened to take her life.
He didn't stop there, he also uploaded objectionable photos of the victim on social media. He also threatened calls to her family.After getting rid of his torture, she goes to the police station and filed complaint against the accused.

Acting upon her complaint, Tirupur city police have arrested Imam. The police have booked him under sections - 354 A, 506 (I), 3 (1)(r), 3 (1) (s) of SC-ST act 1989 and Section 66C, 66E, 67A of IT act. He has been sent to judicial custody.
