Keshavraj, the temple built by Pandavas in just one night!

The temple is believed to be as many as 5000 years old, and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu; here, you will a natural offspring that originates at the top of the hill and then flows through the Gomukh throughout the year!

The temple we will explore today is a hidden one, and is one of the most ornate temples in all of Konkan. The nature in which the temple is surrounded is truly mesmerising, and makes the visit worth it. The Keshavraj temple is situated between Dapoli and Asud Pul. It is approximately 7 kms away from the actual city of Dapoli, in a small village named Asud. You can access it via Dabkewadi after which you cross a small river.

You will come across a steep climb where you will find fresh water, which is said to have been coming from a tree trunk and is present all days of the year. The Keshavraj idol here is a must see.
 
 
A footpath leads down from Dabkewadi. On both sides, you will see thick coconut tress, which have been in this village for hundreds of years. You beautiful also see the idol of Lord Vishnu standing in the dim light of Samai and it is sure to captivate you. The temple faces south and the serene atmosphere of the area will take your breath away. There is an idol of Ganesha on the left-hand side of the temple and the temple is paved with stone on all four sides.

This temple is alternatively known as Keshavraj Deorai. The temple complex of Keshavraj with thick bushes on all four sides looks a mysterious. On the way to the temple, after crossing the bridge over the stream, steps are taken. Keshavraj is one of the biggest dieties in Ratnagiri district.

This temple was actually built in the Peshwa period but is also largely believed that it was built by the Pandava brothers, that too in the time period of just a single night! To reach this pristine temple, you will have to take a few extra efforts. You will need to climb around 150-200 steps, as the path leading up to the actual temple resembles a small jungle trail or trek. You will need at least 20-25 minutes to reach this temple via the trail. The way it is hidden past the trees, makes the temple extra special.

As one can imagine, this hidden pathway that leads upto the temple is completely immersed in tranquility, calmness, dense forests, natural streams which give lovely visual, and of course, the trail itself.

The natural spring actually originates at the top of the hill near the temple. This stream flows all through the year through Gomukh.
