It should be noted that these allegations seem unfair as GT has played some excellent and showcased consistent performances throughout the season. It can also be said that they were the best team this season winning 10 out of 14 matches in the league stage and then backing it with a stunning show in both playoff games including the final. The main contribution was of the duo - skipper Hardik Pandya and coach Ashish Nehra.

Different players stepped up for them at crunch moments as they won around 5-6 matches in the final over of the innings. While Hardik impressed with his all-round abilities, David Miller had his best IPL season thanks to the role clarity and the backing he got. The bowling attack comprising Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan with others playing a supporting role was one of the best too.
