She has been asked to comply to the notice on or before June 20. Further, the case against Sharma has been filed under Sections 153A, 295A, 298, and 34 of the IPC, stated the Kolkata Police.

Earlier, she was summoned by the Bhiwandi Police in Maharashtra and she was asked to appear on Monday. She, however, sought time from the police to appear before it to record her statement.

A senior police official said the suspended BJP leader, who is facing death threats, has been given more time to appear and will not be travelling to Bhiwandi on Monday.

The Bhiwandi Police in Thane district had earlier filed a case against Nupur Sharma over her objectionable remarks. The case was registered on the complaint of the Raza Academy, made on May 30.
