TN cop arrest ABVP activist for post supporting Nupur Sharma's remarks on Prophet

As per the reports, Kirthi had shared a video clip of a TV debate in which Nupur Sharma made the remark on Prophet Muhammad. He shared a video with a caption saying, "I"ll repeat this every day... Nupur Sharma only repeated what was written....what wrong did she say?"

Coimbatore, June 16: In a shocking development, Coimbatore police have arrested a former functionary of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Karthi Thandamuthur, for supporting suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma through a Facebook post.

The police have arrested Karthi under section 153A of the Indian Penal Code and section 67 of the IT Act.
 
As per the reports, Kirthi had shared a video clip of a TV debate in which Nupur Sharma made the remark on Prophet Muhammad. He shared a video with a caption saying, "I'll repeat this every day... Nupur Sharma only repeated what was written....what wrong did she say?"
 
 
 
The police stated that Karthi was produced before a judicial magistrate and was later remanded to judicial custody. It should be noted that the video and the caption posted by Karthi have been removed from his Facebook wall.
 
Following his arrest, several Hindu organisations questioned the Tamil Nadu government for arresting Karthi and also criticised the police.
 
Earlier, a 19-year-old engineering student named Saad Ashfaq Ansari was detained by police in Maharashtra's Bhiwandi after a mob assaulted him for his social media post backing Nupur Sharma.
