"First batch of Agniveers to commence training by end of 2022," says COAS Gen Manoj Pande

As far as the question of Agniveers going to recruitment training centres is concerned, the training of first Agniveers will begin in Dec (2022) at the centres. The active service will commence in the middle of 2023.

New Delhi, Jun 17: The Chief of Indian Army, General Manoj Pande has recently informed that the first batch of Agniveers will commence its training in December, of the ongoing year. Although the Central govt has not yet confirmed any date, the announcement of the training of Agniveers to begin in December and that their active service will begin in mid - 2023, has been confirmed by the Army Chief himself.

According to the reports of ANI, the Indian army chief said, "Recruitment process is going to begin soon. Within the next two days a notification will be issued on the official website. After that, our army recruitment organizations will declare a detailed schedule of registration and rally." He added, "As far as the question of Agniveers going to recruitment training centres is concerned, the training of first Agniveers will begin in Dec (2022) at the centres. The active service will commence in the middle of 2023."
 
 
 
 
 
COVID 19 halted the army recruitment for over two years. In 2019 - 2020, the army recruited jawan and there has been no entry since then. At the same time, both the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force had recruited for the last two years. According to a recent about the scheme, the Centre has decided to increase the upper age limit for recruitment of Agniveers to 23 years from 21 years for the year 2022, amid the protests against the new scheme of recruitment of soldiers into the armed services.
 
On the same lines, Union Home Minister Amit Shah through his tweet has thanked PM Modi for the decision saying that "the recruitment process in the Army was affected due to the Covid-19 pandemic for the last two years, therefore the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, empathizing with the youths who crossed the age limit, has taken the decision to increase the maximum entry age from 21 years to 23 years by giving relaxation of two years in the age limit in the first year of recruitment under the 'Agnipath Yojana'.
