Shiv Sena removes Eknath Shinde as party group leader

Shinde along with other MLAs are at Surat’s Le Meridien hotel, where security has been beefed up with cops checking cars at the entrance since their arrival early Tuesday morning.

Mumbai, June 21: Shiv Sena minister Eknath Shinde, who along with at least 12 MLAs is camping in Gujarat, was removed from the post of party group leader. MLA Ajay Chaudhary is likely to replace Shinde.

The decision came amidst a meeting being held at official residence of CM Uddhav Thackeray. According to reports, Shinde along with the MLAs are at Surat’s Le Meridien hotel, where security has been beefed up with cops checking cars at the entrance since their arrival early Tuesday morning.
 
 
A Shiv Sena leader said that Shinde “misguided” the MLAs and some of them were in touch with the party and wanted to return.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar has termed the issue as an “internal matter” of Shiv Sena and expressed confidence in the leadership of CM Uddhav Thackeray to find a solution to the political crisis faced by MVA government.
