In more humiliation for OPS, the supporters of EPS honoured the former Tamil Nadu chief minister with a decorated crown, a sword and sceptre. Panneerselvam along with deputy secretary R Vaithilingam and other supporters walked out of the hall and left the premises.

Meanwhile, AIADMK Dy Coordinator KP Munusamy said that when the next General Committee meeting will be convened, all these along with the resolution for single leadership will be adopted.

Ever since former Tamil Nadu chief minster J Jayalalithaa's death, O Paneerselvam and Edappadi K Palaniswami have been engaged in a tussle to take control of AIADMK. The same was evident when Panneerselvam and Palaniswami came for the meeting. Each one's supporters raised slogans welcoming them.

The general council meeting of the AIADMK commenced at the Srivari Kalyana Mandapam at Vanagaram. The commuters faced a harrowing time as huge traffic jams were witnessed in the areas surrounding the Srivari Kalyana Mandapam at Vanagaram.

In a major setback to Palaniswami camp, the Madras High Court in a late night hearing ordered that EPS camp cannot initiate any decisive move over the single leadership issue. The division bench restrained the general council from amending any by-law bringing relief to the Panneerselvam faction.

The division bench passed the order after Justice Krishnan Ramasamy of the Madras High had on June 22 night refused to interfere in the AIADMK general council meeting following which party leader Shanmugham filed an urgent petition before the court.
