New York, June 27: Days after the US supreme court ruled that Americans have a fundament right to carry a gun in public, an Indian-American Sikh man was shot dead in New York in the South Ozone Park area. The incident is the fourth such incident of crimes against Sikhs that took place around New York's Richmond Hill area.
The deceased has been identified as Satnam Singh. As per the local reports, he was shot 'execution-style' while sitting in a jeep near his home on Saturday afternoon. Soon after the incident, Satnam Singh was taken to a local hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
As per the eyewitness, the assailant had fired from a car. He also confirmed that the incident has been captured on her home security camera. The police had made no arrests. It is being said that police were unaware of the motive behind the unprovoked attack.
In the last three months, two Sikhs had their turbans knocked off and robbed in separate incidents in Richmond Hill. Both Richmond Hill and South Ozone Park have large numbers of people of Indian origin.
