"Martyrdom is integral to our lives" is the motto of Jammu Kashmir Police Commandos and Army Soldiers fighting relentlessly with Jehadi Terrorists coming into Kashmir across border from Pakistan. Mudassir Ahmed Sheikh, a J&K Police Commando from Baramulla PS in Srinagar Valley, attained Shahadat (became martyr) while fighting well trained, fully armed group of Jaish e Muhammad (JEM) Terrorists. He single handedly killed Ali Bhai, Hanif Bhai and Shah Wali in an encounter and sent them straight to Jannat to enjoy with 72 Hoors (Angles/Apsaras). All three who became “Alla Pyare” were/are Pakistani Terrorists, Thirty-seven-year-old Mudassir was popularly known as "Bindas" among Police and Army/Rashtriya Rifles Soldiers. Mudassir has always been one amongst various olice Parties involved/accompanying Army/RR in almost all the clashes against Jehadi Terrorists in Baramulla Area of the Valley. They never went out for an Operation without Mudassir acting as a Points Man.

It is said that his Mobile number was saved under the name "Bindas" by almost all Army/RR Personnel who worked with him in Counter Infiltration/Terrorism Operations. He got this nickname for his fierce/unpretentious nature while undergoing training at Kashmir Police Training Center, his outstanding performance at the Army Commando School and his extraordinary bravery in Skirmishes. With passage of Time, a Fine, Ruthless, Daredevil Police Commando shaped in persona of Mudassir. That is the opinion of Army Officers who saw him Operating in Kashmir Valley. Mudassir always acted beyond authorized Pamphlet/Manual Guide Lines and Training Curriculum. Everybody knew that Mudassir would be seen sweating in Gymnasium at the end of day or even at night, no matter how long he was engaged in Operations. The passion behind this Daily Workout Regime was his desire that One/He must always be fit like a True Commando.

Mudassir was selected to serve in "Anti Insurgency Task Force" of the Kashmir Police in Third year after leaving Police Training Center. He was in this Force for about Eight years. He was ever ready to enter First in every Jungle/House/Infrastructure which Jehadis used/occupied for furtherance of their cause. Mudassir has always been the "First Point of Contact" during contacts with Fanatical Jehadis, trained and willing to give their lives for Islam at any given time. Mudassir used to face First Bullet in any/every encounter. He was undisputed member and part of each and every Police and Army/RR Team acting against Terrorist.

Jehadi Terrorists from Pakistan always have State of Art Weapons, IEDs, and Communication Means, Bullet proof Jackets, Helmets and Firepower capable of severely harming Civilian/Military Life, Infrastructure, Finance and Resources. In each Operation he participated, Bindas Mudassir carried a Hunter Knife dangling on front of his Bulletproof Jacket, an AK-47 Rifle always ready to fire in his hand and five or six Fully Loaded Rifle Magazines in his pocket. He was reluctant to carry/use Hand Grenades. Reason being; a Hand Grenade is always thrown from a distance, thrown through a Window/Door and while doing this he could not/was not actually able to see person he was/were throwing the Grenade at. This is True. And Mudassir did not like it. He wanted to see who he is harming/injuring/killing. As per his Colleagues, Mudassir always used to enter the Terrorist Hideout from front, his AK 47 blazing, firing directly on Enemy.

His Cousin, Special Police Officer Bilal Ahmed, was killed in August 2019 during an operation undertaken by Security Forces to free innocent Civilians Hostages in Baramulla. He was honored for his Valor with the award of Shaurya Chakra. Since then, Mudassir has been depressed. He became Philosopher. Mudassir was fully aware that Sword of Death always dangles on heads of Army/RR/Police Commandos operating in the Valley. He believed in maxim that; Inexplicable Destiny has kept/marked name of every agile, physically fit, always ready for battle and skilled in wielding weapons Soldier on "that one bullet". "Jitni Zindagi Hai, Utnihi Honi Hai; Na Kam, Na Ziada”.
Bindas Mudassir became a martyr in the fourth week of May 2022, while operating with Army. The clash took place at a Kriri Check Post at Najibhat Crossing on Srinagar-Gulmarg State Highway in Baramulla. Army and Police Personnel were deployed at the Check Post. Jehadi Terrorists started a voluminous, indiscriminate Gun Fire when a suspicious speeding Private Car was challenged and asked to stop. There were four terrorists in the vehicle. All of them jumped out of vehicle and took a firing position. Troops at the Check Post took to/seized the ground and started Retaliatory Fire. The skirmish went on for about two and a half hours. In this ongoing molly, a Jehadi managed to escape under ensuing Gun Battle. Mudassir could not bear it. Mudassir, who was at “First Point of Contact”, jumped out from his position and attacked Jehadis “Head On” with complete disregard of/to his own Life. Had he not taken this bold step, perhaps rest of Jehadis would also have managed/able to skip the Killing Zone. Three JEM militants were killed in the clash. There in an influx of Tourists to Kashmir in general and Pehalgam, Gulmarg and Srinagar. Amarnath Yatra is going to commence any time. These JeM Terrorists; armed with six AK-47 Rifles, immeasurable Ammunition, Twelve Chinese Hand Grenades and nine IEDs, could have caused an unimaginable loss to Tourists and Devotees would they have been able to move to Srinagar / Pahalgam. Mudassir Ahemad Shekh has saved these many lives by sacrificing himself, so to say. The battle is difficult.

Handsome, statue like Mudassir with arms as thick as trunk of an Elephant was an, a magnificent, five feet nine inches tall young man. Mudassir was/used to be asked by several young Army/RR Officers who worked with him as to "Why don't you leave the Police Force and join Army, Rashtriya Rifles or NSG?" But Mudassir had/loved to work in the Kashmir Police Force., the goal was the same. All these Soldiers be serving in Kashmir for Two and a Half to Three years and then get posted outside Kashmir. Mudassir, as a Special Commando in J&K Police, wanted to work for elimination of Terrorists in Kashmir 24x7, with AK-47 in hand He desired to stay in Kashmir to fight the Terrorists. "That's why I joined the police. I am not greedy for any Position, Award, Power or Chair. I love my Police Uniform, Boots, AK-47s and Mobile Phone”;he used to retort with his cute, famous smile.

Mudassir is survived by his young Wife, two small Children and elderly Parents. He was to celebrate his Tenth Nikah Anniversary in June,2022. Mudassir, who has been fond of uniforms since childhood, ran away from school at the age of 18 and joined the Kashmir Police in his first attempt. A resident of Pampore, Uri, Mudassir Ahemad Sheikh was buried with Full State Honour on May 28, 2022. Hundreds of people attended his Janaja."Don't shed tears, I am Proud of Mudassir. He sacrificed his life for Tiranga. I am worried that His martyrdom has saved the lives of hundreds of Tourists/Pilgrims. I know, he will not come back, but sacrifice for India has earned him a place in Jannat”; so said his father, Maqsood Ahemad Sheikh, a Retired Inspector of Police. “I will send my both sons either to Police or Army” said his wife.

National Newspapers and News Channels were busy in discussing religious issues in Ayodhya/Mathura/Punjab/ Rajasthan and frivolous, failed Anti Narcotics Operations against Filmy Kids resulting efforts to secure Political advantage out of it. Vernacular Marathi Newspapers and News Channels were similarly engrossed in Rajya Sabha Nominations and OBC Reservations. They had no time for this act of Valour by a Police in Kashmir since it had no TRP. Army Operations in Kashmir are generally covered by these people. But when such uncut Diamond in the Police Force of a Terror Hit State is noticed; it is in order to eulogize him. Mudassir may or may not receive the Gallantry Award. But heroes like Mudassir do not do this kind of action for rewards, but out of Passion and Mindset. Such stalwarts must be brought to public notice and that is what I have tried to do to my best.

We always say, "Taking a bullet in your chest is the most glorious way for a soldier to go." Only Bindas, Fearless. Domineering Brave Soldiers achieve that. Even God wants such People for protection of Heaven. For those who have taken part in Operations with him; "Mudassir Sheikh was Bindas and will always be Bindas". Mudassir's martyrdom will always be lauded and admired by them. Nation Salutes Such Dabangg, Bindas Soldiers, whether they are from Army Or Police Is Immaterial.
