Minor allegedly gang-raped in Jubilee Hills in car, police arrests 2 accused out of 5

Ten years after the spine-chilling Nirbhaya case, which shook India and forced everyone to raise questions about women's safety in the nation, now the same kind of ghastly incident took place in Telangana, where a minor college-going girl was sexually assaulted by a group of accused inside a car.

 

 

The incident took place on May 28 at 5.30 PM. It came to light after two days when her father lodged a complaint at the police station regarding the incident.

 

As per the filed FIR, the minor went to attend a freshers' party hosted by her friends at Amnesia & Insomnia Pub in Jubilee Hills. At around 5.30 PM, the victim went with the five accused in a Mercedes Benz car. After travelling a few kilometers, they shifted the victim and her friends to a Toyota Innova car. Later, they misbehaved with the victim and were sexually assaulted at an isolated place in the Jubilee Hills area. 

 

The security footage, which is going viral on social media, purportedly showed the girl standing with the suspected attackers outside the pub where she had met them.

 

 

 

The father has also stated in his complaint that these boys also abused and assaulted his daughter, due to which she suffered minor injuries to her neck. At that time, the girl was in deep shock and was unable to give the exact details of what happened.

 

Following the complaints, police have registered a case under various sections of 354, 323 IPC, and section 9 r/w 10 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO). Telangana Police yesterday informed that they had arrested 2 accused in connection.

 

 

 

Most of the accused are Class 11 and 12 students and all belong to "politically influential" families. One was reported to be the son of an AIMIM MLA, and the other was reported to be the son of a TRS leader. The son of an AIMIM legislator was allegedly in the group, but the police say he left before the assault; he was picked up by his brother and went to see off his uncle flying to the US. However, at the same time, police also confirmed the involvement of the TRS leader’s son in the case. Reportedly, the Mercedes car used in the case also belongs to the same TRS leader.
