Mumbai, June 6: Mumbai Police will soon be sending a summon to suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma to record her statement, in connection with her alleged comments against Prophet Mohammed during a news debate on the Gyanvapi issue.

The development came hours after BJP issued a statement seeking to defuse the row.

Qatar and Kuwat condemned the comments made by Sharma. Saudi Arabia too, slammed Sharma’s remarks on Prophet Muhammad and welcomed BJP's move to suspend its spokeswoman.

Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry, led by Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al-Saud, reiterated the country's position calling for respect for beliefs & religions. The ministry stressed its rejection of any violation and infringement of Islamic symbols and important figures of all religions.
