Kulgam govt high school to be renamed after teacher Rajni Bala, killed in Pandit targeted killings

New Delhi, Jun 9: The govt high school in Gopalpora area of South Kashmir's Kulgam will be named after its teacher Rajni Bala, who was shot dead by terrorists on May 31. The news was confirmed after the announcement of J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday (Jun 8) about the renaming.

LG Sinha visited deceased govt teacher Rajni Bala's family members on Wednesday, at their residence in Samba and assured her husband Rajkumar of all possible support. The LG announced the initiative during a programme held in connection with a road project. He said, "We have decided that Gopalpora government high school will be named after Rajni Bala."
 
 
 
 
 
 
During the incident of May 31, terrorists had barged inside a govt school at Gopalpora village in South Kashmir’s Kulgam area and fired at a teacher Rajni Bala, inflicting critical wounds on her. Though she was shifted to the hospital immediately, she succumbed to the injuries.
 
 
Regarding the announcement of renaming the govt school, the LG tweeted "The government high school, Gopalpora in Kulgam will be named after Smt. Rajni Bala. Assured her husband Shri Rajkumar that all his demands and concerns will be resolved on priority basis."
