YouTuber Karthik Gopinath gets bail in temple fund collection case

Chennai, June 09: Giving a major blow to the DMK-led- Tamil Nadu government, a judicial magistrate court granted bail to YouTuber S. Karthik Gopinath, who was arrested based on HRCE's complaint for collecting funds to renovate a temple at Siruvachur.

The court imposed conditions while granting bail to him. BJP State President for Sports and Skill Development, Amar Prasad Reddy, and party cadres visited Puzhal prison and personally welcomed Karthik Gopinath.
 
 
 
It should be noted that 10 days ago, an HR&CE official and Piyush Manush filed a complaint against him for collecting money without getting permission from the HR&CE department. They also alleged that he is using it for personal benefits. Following this, the Chennai Police slapped Sections 409 and 420 of the IPC against him.
 
Following his arrest, Karthik moved a bail petition in a local court in Poonamallee, Tamil Nadu. The magistrate heard his plea and granted him bail.
 
He runs a YouTube channel named llaya Bharatham. Karthik had appealed to Hindus to donate money for the cause following a slew of attacks in temples located in Siruvachur, Perambalur. He also targeted the DMK government for criticising the latter in its inaction in preserving temples and other public issues.
 
Youtuber S. Karthik Gopinath has now moved the Madras High Court seeking to quash the FIR filed against him.
