Today is a big day for all the people in India because today is Guru Purnima. A day that is dedicated to our Guru, our teachers, and our guide in our life. With each passing day, we are moving forward and with that process sometimes we forget to peek in our past and think about what we have got from a very important person in our life, our Guru. And today, let’s promise ourselves to rekindle this bond between us and our Gurus.

Guru Purnima

Think about it, when was the last time we called our Guru / Teachers / Mentors for no reason, just to ask them how are they? When was the last time we went to meet our teacher just to ensure if everything is going well or just checking upon them? Now we aren’t living in Guru Shishya Parampara anymore, however, the bond of respect, love, and care should always be there, and with our fast life, we are somewhere missing that bond, that connection with our Gurus.

What a guru would want from their disciples?

Hard work, honesty, loyalty, and respect, are all that they want from you. No huge gifts, no huge attention, nothing fancy, nothing huge. In today’s day and time, your true Gurus, and your teachers want you to grow in your life in all terms, all sections. They want to see you being successful in your life, you following the path given by them, and you following the path of honesty. This is what they want to see and cherish these moments later.

They want you to become responsible, a good human being. And they want to be the witness to it. Today’s era of technology can help us to reach out to them. In the Movie “Dharmavir”, Dharamvir of Shivsena, Anand Dighe went to Balasaheb Thackeray and performed the Guru Puja. That whole incident shows the dedication and respect toward Guru. Even if we aren’t expected to do all of that we can just connect again with our teachers and update them about our lives, tell them that they are still in our hearts and mind and we still value them the same, the way we used to do before, or when we were kids.

We can just plan a video call with our batchmates to our school teachers after ages. We can plan a surprise visit to our Guru’s place and make them happy. We can cook their favorite meal and visit them with the same, In this technological era, we can write a letter to them and make them feel special. Do your kind of Guru Pujan, but make sure you reciprocate your feelings to them. And not just on Guru Purnima but any time of the year. Because your guru does not need one day to be celebrated.

As Kabirdas rightly said, “Guru Gobind Dou Khade, Ka Ke laagu Paay, Balihari Guru Apne Gobind diyo Batay” Means “When you meet your Guru and God whose feet will you touch first? Kabirdas answered that Your Guru has given you the path to reach the god, hence their feet have to be touched first.”

On this Guru Purnima promise yourself, that you will never forget what your teachers and mentors Gurus taught you. You will take their advice seriously and try your best to make them feel proud.

Happy Guru Purnima. We are what we are only because of you.
