The end - product of education should be a free creative man, who can battle against historical circumstances and adversities of nature : Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.

However, the education system in place since independence does not believe in recognizing and developing creative and innovative abilities; many historical facts are presented incorrectly in order to weaken the younger generation and make them feel ashamed of their past; and there is no emphasis on life skills to face adversaries.

Ben Okri , Nigerian Novelist said, "To poison a nation, poison its stories . A demoralized nation tells demoralised stories to itself . Beware of the storytellers who are not fully conscious of the importance of their gifts , and who are irresponsible in the application of their art they could unwittingly help along with the psychic destruction of their people". This was the exact plan of Britishers through Thomas Macaulay's education system, but it was carried on even after independence, with many false historical facts added to history... What was the purpose?

The Importance of Right Education

The empowerment of each person to empower society and nation through it's strong cultural roots happens through Right education, knowledge, skills, right to education with focus to build personal and national character.

The regularisation of Macaulay's anti-Bharat education policy, which was exacerbated significantly by earlier governments, led to a slavery mentality and a depressed mindset. Many historical facts and stories were written in such a way as to establish the narrative that cruel invaders were good and good rulers did not receive much attention in books. It was demonstrated that we lost every crucial battle and that our forefathers did nothing good for the country; it was the invaders and looters who did well for the country.

The systematic degradation of the educational system continues to have a negative impact on many fronts, including economic damage, a lack of science and technology in many sectors, and poor social engineering.

So Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas (SSUN), an organisation formed in 2004 to fight this menace and to bring positive change in the education system. The Central Government's recent major reform in the education sector is "NEP 2020." SSUN played an important role by providing critical inputs, numerous awareness programmes for students, teachers, management, and parents, and even assisting in the execution phase.

Two examples how historical facts twisted and SSUN worked for it.

Subject of Movement: BA in Sociology at Delhi University. It was written in the book of Part-1 that "It has been said in the Rigveda that the place of women is equal to that of Shudras and dogs". And In Atharvaveda, women have been considered the only means of producing children. It was completely baseless and was taught so that it instills hatred among Hindu students towards their Dharma.

SSUN acted on this issue and legal notice was given to Allied Publication and Vice-Chancellor against this comment. The publication banned this book. Both the authors of the book apologized for this. Delhi University has also removed these excerpts from the new book.

Second Case

The subject of the movement was the B.A. course in the University of Delhi (Hons) Second Year History subject of "Culture in Ancient India" The article in the book written by A. K. Ramanujam "Three Hundred Ramayanas and Five Examples. It said Ravana and Mandodari had no children. Both worshiped Shiva. Shiva gave them mangoes to eat. By mistake, Ravana ate all the mangoes and he conceived the pregnancy." There was a perverse type of material.

The nature of the movement (in a nutshell): There were demonstrations in front of the Vice-Chancellor's office in the university on 25 February 2008. On 28 February 2008, 7 students who protested against the student council were arrested. On 25 June 2010, there were demonstrations and dharnas across the country. There were movements against this book across the country, in which thousands of citizens participated.

Attempts in Courts: Supreme Court of India - Case No. 2902/2008 - Judgment 19.10.2011 Dinanath Batra Vs. The University of Delhi, Honorable judges issued notices to the Vice-Chancellor and Academic Council of Delhi University.

Result: - Oxford University Press was given a legal notice for the book "Many Ramayan" and he apologized in response to this and banned the sale of this book. In the end, this text was removed from the University of Delhi.

Let us join together and pledge our support for SSUN's efforts to strengthen the education system!
