Kerala police arrests 2 CPI(M) workers in connection with attack on RSS office at Payyannur

Police have arrested 23-year-old Kashyap and 27-year-old Genil and have invoked relevant provisions of the Explosives Act against them. According to the police, they had a direct involvement in the incident.

Kochi, July 23: In a major development, Kerala police have arrested two CPI(M) workers in connection with the attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh office in the Payyannur area last week.

Police have arrested 23-year-old Kashyap and 27-year-old Genil and have invoked relevant provisions of the Explosives Act against them. According to the police, they had a direct involvement in the incident.
The first accused, Ganil TC, is a member of the DYFI Puttur regional committee. The second accused, Kashyap, is the Unit Secretary under DYFI Vellore Central Regional Committee.
"We have arrested two persons. As per the preliminary investigation, they both have direct participation in the attack," a police officer told.
 
 
It should be noted that, on July 12, a locally-made bomb was hurled at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office in Payyannur, Kannur district of Kerala . The incident took place early in the morning. No injury or loss of life was reported in the incident.
CCTV footage of the attack revealed several explosions within the boundary wall of the RSS office with many of its windows damaged in the incident.RSS had accused CPI(M) workers of carrying out the attack.
The attack came days after a bomb was thrown at the wall of CPI(M)'s state headquarters, AKG Centre, on the night of June 30 and those involved in the case are yet to be identified by police.
