Mumbai, July 28: Swapna Patkar, estranged wife of Sujit Patkar (a close aide of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut), said that she was threatened to withdraw her statement against Raut in Patra Chawl case. The Rs 1,034 crore Patra Chawl land scam case is being probed by Enforcement Directorate.

Patkar also said she needs security and asked ED to inform police officials about the situation. Her statement was recorded by ED earlier this week and last week. Swapna Patkar and Sanjay Raut's wife Varsha jointly held land parcels in Alibag which were attached by the ED during the investigation of the case. The property documents were found when ED had conducted searches at Sujit Patkar’s residence.

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut skipped the ED summons in the case on Wednesday and informed through his lawyers that due to the ongoing Parliament session he could appear only after August 7. Raut was earlier summoned on July 20 which he skipped citing the same reasons. He had recorded his statement once on July 1.

ED wants to question Raut to know about his "business and other links" with Pravin Raut and Patkar and also about the property deals involving his wife.

After arresting Pravin Raut in February, the ED had said he appeared to be "acting as a front" or in collusion with some influential person(s).
