New Delhi, July 8: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will brief a meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee on Defence that is scheduled to be held in New Delhi on July 11 (Monday), 2022. He will brief the Committee members about various aspects of the recently-launched Agnipath scheme, through which recruitment of soldiers in all the three Services will henceforth take place.

"Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh is scheduled to brief the Committee members about various aspects of the recently-launched Agnipath scheme, through which recruitment of soldiers in all the three services will henceforth take place," the ministry said in a statement. The meeting was earlier planned for July 8.
 
The chiefs of the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and Indian Navy, and the defence secretary, as well as other senior defence ministry officials, will attend the meeting.

The Singh-led committee consists of 20 members, including 13 members of the Lok Sabha and seven from the Rajya Sabha. It also represents members of nearly all parties. Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah and Trinamool Congress leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay are among the members.
 
Though there have been violent protests across the nation, numbers from the registration process reflect the enthusiasm of the youth from across the country. This came after the Indian Air Force (IAF) said it received 7.5 lakh applications under the Agnipath recruitment scheme which is the largest number of applications received in any recruitment cycle. IAF Agnipath recruitment 2022 registration process started on June 24, 2022.
This year, 46,000 soldiers would be taken in.
