Dakshina Kannada, August 17: The National Investigation Agency, who is investigating the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha leader Praveen Kumar Nettar's murder case, has revealed that he was murdered to create terror in the region.
As per the source, the accused revealed this information during the investigation. Sources added that the assailants wanted to avenge 19-year-old Masood's death and spread terror among the locals. Masood, a daily wage earner from Kerala's Kasaragod, was staying with his grandfather in Bellare at the time.
Within 24 hours of Masood's death on July 20, the Karnataka Police had arrested all eight suspects. Police in Dakshina Kannada had claimed that Masood was killed over a trivial fight between two men.
After Nettar's murder, another youth, 23-year-old Mohammad Fazil Mangalpet, was reportedly killed in revenge. All six murder suspects have been arrested by police.
There has been resentment against the ruling BJP among its party workers and activists following Nettar's murder. Also, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) members laid siege to Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra's official residence in Bengaluru, causing the government serious embarrassment.
