Before his arrest, Bandi Sanjay Kumar had lashed out at the state police for registering "attempt to murder" cases against BJP workers for protesting at the house of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha.

"Strongly condemn TS police registering a case of attempted murder against BJP leaders who were protesting at the house of CM KCR's daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha demanding an answer to the allegations in the liquor scam. There is clear evidence that TRS goons have attacked BJP workers," Bandi Sanjay Kumar said in a tweet.

The BJP had dragged the name of Kavitha in the ongoing probe into the row over the now scrapped excise police in Delhi, accusing her of being the "middleman between the liquor mafia and AAP government in Delhi".

Alleging that the arrest of BJP workers was done on the orders of CM KCR, Bandi Sanjay Kumar said, "Keeping seriously injured leaders and activists in the police station without even providing treatment to the police is the worst."

"We demand injured BJP leaders should be taken to hospital immediately and given better medical treatment. BJP has doesn't fear police cases and attacks by TRS goons. The truth on the liquor scam should be exposed.

Strict action should be taken no matter who the culprits are," he added. Reacting to police action against Bandi Sanjay Kumar, BJP spokesman Sudhanshu Trivedi said, "Investigating agency will probe. If there is nothing, why arrest Sanjay Bandi? This shows something."
