Later, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Derek O'Brien narrated a story of Naidu's early personal loss, making the VP teary-eyed. Giving a farewell speech to Venkaiah Naidu, Derek O'Brien said, "Just after independence in undivided Andhra Pradesh, those who owned agricultural land, how did they show how well off they are? (Through) the number of pairs of bullocks you own. So if you owned two pairs of bullocks you were quite well off."

"One such family-owned eight pairs of bullocks. So good so far. But one day, one of these animals they went totally nutty and the bullock attacked the lady in the stomach. The lady was carrying a baby— a one-year-old boy. The lady was taken to the hospital and she passed away. The child lost his mother at the age of one. This is your story, sir, of your early loss," Derek said in the house," he took a pause.

Listening to this story, Venkaiah Naidu was seen wiping his tears while he recalled the loss of his mother at the age of one. "And from that early loss, you have done whatever you have done which we can find in not only in Wikipedia entries but in a glorious career you had," Derek added. The TMC MP also urged Naidu to write an autobiography.

In his speech, Naidu said he never aspired to be the President and will not turn into a "dissident", but will continue to remain connected with people and interact with them. In his farewell speech, Naidu, who has often expressed unhappiness over frequent stalling of proceedings, said people expect Parliament to discuss, debate and not disrupt. The Vice President appealed to members to observe "decency, dignity and decorum" to maintain the image and respect of the house.

"The normal feeling about politicians...Respect is declining everywhere and this is because the value systems are declining. Keep that in mind and try to do your bit," he said advising parliamentarians to follow high standards.

Talking about speculation that he aspired to become the President, Naidu made it clear, "I am not of that type, people now often talk - either president, otherwise dissident or a resident. I am not going to do all these three. I never aspired to be the president, will never become a dissident and will never be confined to the residence. I would be moving around, going around, meeting you all, greeting you all and talking to you on larger issues.
