New Delhi, Sept 12: Congress has been erupting controversy since the Bharat Jodo Yatra commenced. Stooping down to another level of shamelessness, the Twitter handle of the Indian National Congress shared an image of a pair that are similar to RSS' khaki and are being burnt.

Congress shares pic of burning khaki of RSS, says Bharat Jodo yatra to 'undo damage done by BJP-RSS'

Sharing the image, the Congress party said that the Bharat Jodo Yatra was undertaken to, "free the country from shackles of hate and undo the damage done by BJP-RSS. Step by step, we will reach our goal."

This speaks of volumes of spitting venom against BJP and RSS. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had said that the very aim of the Kanyakumari-to-Kashmir march is to “undo the damage done by RSS and BJP” to community amity in the country. He also said that desertions from Congress and the opposition from within (G-23) are part of compromises struck by individuals to avoid confronting BJP’s “misuse of agencies”, but “that is not my character”.

"Everybody has an opinion, BJP has one, RSS has its opinion. They are free to have these. For us, the Congress, this is a journey and an attempt at understanding what is going on in India and an attempt at undoing the damage that has been done by BJP and RSS," he said.

"They pressurise those who are against them. We are used to fighting political parties. Now the fight is not between parties. It is now between the structure of Indian state and the opposition. It is not an easy fight, and a lot of people do not want to fight," he told reporters.

Gandhi is undertaking a 3,570-km yatra to connect with people across the country while seeking to strengthen the Congress party, which has suffered successive electoral defeats in the last few years.

BJP has come forward to slam the party for insulting RSS in such way. "Congress fire burnt Delhi in 1984. It’s ecosystem burnt alive 59 karsevaks in Godhra in 2002.They have again given their ecosystem a call for violence. With Rahul Gandhi ‘fighting against Indian State’, Congress ceases to be political party with faith in constitutional means," BJP leader Tejaswi Surya said.

On other other BJP's Sambit Patra said,  "It's not 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' but 'Bharat Todo' and 'Aag Lagao Yatra'. This is not the first time Congress Party has done so. I want to ask Rahul Gandhi do you want violence in this country? Congress should take down this picture immediately"

However, Congress defending the move has BJP a "Jhoot Ki Factory." "I don't want to talk about T-shirts, underwear. If they (BJP) want to make an issue about containers, shoes or T-shirts, it shows that they are afraid and can say anything. 'Jhoot ki factory' is running overtime on social media," said Congress leader Jairam Ramesh.

Earlier, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had met controversial catholic priest George Ponnaiah in the Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu. The pastor, known for his derogatory statements against Hindus, told Gandhi that Jesus is the "only real God not like Shakti" in a video that had gone viral. Ponniah has a history of delivering provocative statements that have landed him in trouble in the past.
