In a first, RSS invites a woman as chief guest at RSS' Vijayadashami event in Nagpur

Nagpur, September 16: For the first time in the history of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the organisation has invited mountaineer Santosh Yadav to be the chief guest at its annual Vijayadashami function in Nagpur.

 

 

As per the reports, Santosh Yadav will attend an event that is going to be held at Reshimbagh Maidan in Nagpur on October 5. With that, she will be the first woman chief guest at the event where the organisation lays out its views on a variety of issues and sets its agenda.

 

Yadav, a Padma Shri awardee, has made a world record by becoming the first woman to climb Mount Everest twice. She scaled the peak first in May 1992 and then in May 1993. She has also bagged the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award.

 

 

Meanwhile, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat is on a four-day visit to Kerala where he visited spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi at her ashram in Kollam district on Thursday.

 

"Mata Amritanandamayi Devi is always an inspiration. In light of our great tradition and culture, we always get very good advice from Amma in very simple words. Amma always gives advice on how to behave and how act. All this gives new impetus to action. Mohan Bhagwat said that is why I am coming here regularly," Bhagwat said in a press release.

 

 

Last month Bhagwat said respect and empowerment of women should begin at home and they should be given their rightful place in society.

 

"If we want to build a Vishwa guru Bharat then just men's participation was not enough. Equal participation of women was also required and for this, a systematic change should come in the 50 percent population (consisting of women) in the country," he had said.
