2027 is going to be a historical year for India, as the country will get its firstfemale Chief Justice of India. You heard right, it is believed that after 80 years of independence, Justice BV Nagarathna will historically end the dominance of men in Indian Judiciary.
Following the footsteps of her father Former CJI, ES Venkataramiah,Nagarathna will be sworn in as the 54th Chief Justice of India on September 25th, 2027. She will occupy this position for 36 days.
Born in 1962, Justice Nagarathna started her practice in 1987. In February 2008, she was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Karnataka High Court and became a permanent judge two years late.
