Saharanpur sports officer suspended after food kept in toilet was served to Kabaddi players

Meerut, Sept 20: An embarassing video has hit internet in which the food prepared for the 300 Kabaddi players is seen being kept in the toilet. The video is going viral on social media. Authorities have suspended Saharanpur district sports officer Animesh Saxena, following reports that claimed players were served unhygienic food.

On September 16, the first day of the three-day sub junior girls Kabaddi competition, the players were served half-cooked rice for lunch, when the players raised questions about the undercooked rice, the cook picked up the rice layer and placed it in the toilet.
 
 
In the video, one can see the players picking undercooked rice from a plate kept in the toilet. The players claimed that they were being served half-cooked food which was kept in the toilet due to shortage of space. The sports officer of Saharanpur, Animesh Saxena, refuted the allegations and termed them as 'baseless'. “The food served to players in the tournament here is of good quality, said Saxena.
 
Due to such negligence, Additional Chief Secretary Sports, Navneet Sehgal, said that Animesh Saxena has been suspended with immediate effect. The state government had directed ADM Finance and Revenue, Rajnish Kumar Mishra, to investigate the incident.
 
The Directorate of Sports had sought a reply from the district magistrate on the incident. Beside, inside the toilet, some 'pooris' were found lying on a piece of paper on the floor. Apart from this, many players had to eat only vegetables and salads for lunch.
