75 Legendary women of India - Neena Gupta

On 22nd Feb 2022, the Ramanujan Prize for Young Mathematicians was awarded to Professor Neena Gupta, a mathematician of the Indian Statistical Institute in Kolkata. She received the award for her outstanding work in affine algebraic geometry and commutative algebra.

 

 

Professor Neena Gupta has also received the Indian National Science Academy's Young Scientist award in 2014. When she speaks about Maths, Neena Gupta has been quoted saying that “I was not the kind who got full marks in maths but I just loved to solve problems and spend hours doing maths." Clearly, it is merely her pure love for Mathematics that has brought her to the position where she stands today.
