The division bench headed by Justice Jayashankar Nambiar gave strict instructions to the government to take strong action to prevent violence. The court also ordered to furnish information on damages to the court.

Kochi, Sep 23: Another blow to Popular Front of India (PFI), as the Kerala High court on Friday, initiated a suo motu case against the leader of PFI for calling a one-day statewide bandh in Kerala saying nobody can call for bandh in the state without permission.

It should be noted, a day after a massive crackdown on the PFi, the radical Islamic outfit is observing a hartal in Kerala on Friday. The PFI announced the dawn-to-dusk hartal to protest against the raids conducted by the multi-agency probe teams spearheaded by the NIA and the arrest of 106 of its leaders and activists.
 
 
 
As per the reports, the Hartal started at 6 am and will continue for 12 hours till 6 PM.
 
Sporadic incidents of violence, including stone pelting, were reported since Friday morning in various parts of Kerala as the dawn-to-dusk hartal called by PFI was underway. Two police officers were attacked earlier today by the hartal supporters at pallimukku in the kollam district.
 
 
 
Two miscreants on a bike in Pallimukku, Kollam district, allegedly abused and hit police officers who attempted to stop them.The injured police officers, Antony and Nikhil, have been admitted to the hospital. According to the police, the assailants' bike number has been noted and they will be apprehended shortly
