Responding to a tweet by FIFA World Cup, the Prime Minister tweeted, "Well done Sunil Chhetri! This will certainly boost football’s popularity in India. @chetrisunil11."

As reported earlier, FIFA shared a post mentioning Indian Football Team Captain Sunil Chhetri shown standing on third position, with ace footballer Christiano Ronaldo on number one and GOAT Lionel Messi on number two position. FIFA's move of mentioning of Chhetri with Ronaldo and Messi is largely being welcomed by Indians across the world.

In a recent post, FIFA tweeted "You know all about Ronaldo and Messi, now get the definitive story of the third highest scoring active men's international. Sunil Chhetri ; Captain Fantastic is available on FIFA+ now". Few months ago, FIFA had started a new "Regional Content Initiative". The initiative itself was considered to be a good move as the Association had then already announced the inclusion of India's football star and national team captain Sunil Chhetri in it.

Although India hasn't yet played a World Cup, but FIFA had decided to include Chhetri in the series, considering the player's global popularity, skills and excelling game stats. As per the earlier reports, "Some of the parts have been shot in Bangalore as he is living there while a bit of shooting also took place in Delhi, where his parents live and where he grew up."
